The calendar has turned to April – Spring is here in the US (well kind of…..) and things are shaping up for a great 22nd Hobie® 16 Worlds in Captiva Island, FL.

Entries are looking good, more Masters and Youth would make things perfect! There is still time to enter and be sure to secure your room at the South Seas Resort.

Sailing is the number one priority, and we will have a top notch group of on and off water personnel to make sure you have the best racing experience available! However, this article will focus a bit more on the off water “fun” factor for the event.
The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel are very excited for all of us to come to the area. Where you are not sailing there are many things to do at the resort and on the Island of Sanibel & Captiva and the surrounding Ft. Myers area. We will have a representative on site to help with all your needs for anything you would like to do. Kayaking, paddle boarding and biking are a favorite on the island for sure. There are endless trails and miles of beaches to explore. And of course we cannot forget about collecting shells!

South Seas has great kids programs on site for those that will have family with them. The Sanibel Sea School is a great program that is very popular in the area.

We will be having a Farmers Market on site twice during the event. This is a great time to see the local flavor of the area with many fresh food vendors on site. Stock up your condo’s with some great local food!

We have a great party schedule for all events. Beach Parties, banquets, and a block party in downtown Captiva on two different nights. Cruises to the famous Cabbage Key will be available for a fee where you can have a nice dinner on the island. Stay tuned to the hobieworlds website for upcoming party package pricing (for non sailors or for those who want to participate in everything!)

The place to be is Captiva, November 2019 for the 22nd Hobie 16 Worlds.

Hope to see you all there! – Lori Mohney
